Lindsay Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Fund Drives Lifesaving Impact with New Van for Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes

January 15, 2025 – Lindsay, ON The Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes (HSKL) is proud to announce the arrival of a new, larger all-wheel drive van, funded by the Lindsay Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Fund. Despite delays, this vital addition is now ready to serve as a lifeline in HSKL’s mission to rescue and care for animals in need across the City of Kawartha Lakes.

As the local population continues to rise, so does the demand for HSKL’s services. The new van will enable HSKL to double the number of animals transported—from 20 to 40—significantly increasing their capacity to respond to urgent calls and larger off-site rescues. Operating 365 days a year, HSKL relies on efficient and reliable transportation to maximize its impact, streamline costs, and save lives.

"This new van is essential to our work, providing a safer and more efficient way to transport animals in need, especially during harsh winter conditions," said Emily Harris, Executive Director of HSKL. "With this upgrade, we can expand our reach, assist more pets and families, and ensure every animal receives the care they deserve. We are deeply grateful to the Lindsay Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Fund for making this possible."

The Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes remains committed to supporting both animals and the community, and the addition of this van marks a lasting impact on their ability to fulfill that mission.
