Care For Cats
The Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes (HSKL) along with their partners, supporters, and donors care deeply for cats in our communities. We have created a Care for Cats Program to support owned, feral(community cats), stray and abandoned cats in order to support their wellbeing. Caring for all types of cats creates a healthier community for pets and people.
To make the largest impact for the animals and to decrease cats coming to the shelter that need to be rehomed, we have created these programs to support all cats.
OWNED CATS
Food Bank
Goal of this service is to keep families together, especially during this deepening financial crisis. We provide free canned or dry cat food. Quantities and brands of food may be varied or/and limited, call before coming to the shelter.
Surrender Services
We know how much pets mean to their owners, but sometimes circumstances change, and rehoming a pet may be the kindest and most responsible option.
Call the shelter for more details if you are thinking about rehoming your cat. You will be treated with no judgement, and with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, several times throughout the year due to kitten season and high demands you maybe put on a waiting list because of the lack of space or fosters.
