The History of Second Chance Store
More than ten years ago, an idea began to be discussed among several volunteers. Would it be possible and profitable to open a second-hand store to generate income for HSKL? Locations were considered since HSKL had recently moved to the new site; the best option for the store was the front half of the old building. It could have been better, but it was worth a try. After much cleaning, rearranging and painting, along with a meagre amount of donations, the store, aptly named the Second Chance Store, was ready for business.
A crew of volunteers was established to staff the store and opening day was here. Since that day, there have been many improvements to make this daily fundraiser the best it can be.
Over time there have been personnel changes, but many original volunteers have continued to make this project successful.
Thanks to all of the HSKL volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy, as well as our Community who have been customers and or donors
This idea that has come to fruition has been a team effort.
