General Shelter Operations Fund
Maintaining an animal shelter comes with a lot of costs. Since the shelter operates 24/7, 365 days a year, it sees a lot of wear and tear. The shelter receives no on-going government or city funding. This fund helps with everything from repairing leaky faucets, upgrading computer and security systems, replacing broken fences and so much more!
The Honey Fund
The Honey Fund is designated to assist with extraordinary medical bills for sick/injured animals that come into our care. This fund covers medications, surgeries and travel, that would otherwise be unaffordable. This fund was established in memory of Honey, a one-eyed stray dog. This fund is NOT for public use, it is for shelter animals only.
Marj Owen Spay/Neuter Fund
This fund is named after volunteer, Marj Owen. Marj established the spay/neuter fund which contributes to the cost of spaying or neutering animals prior to adoption. We are pleased to say that every cat and dog is spayed/neutered before they go to their forever home! We do not have a veterinarian on staff, which means spay/neuters are one of our largest expenses. We rely on local veterinarians and the Ontario SPCA's low cost spay/neuter clinic, for the animals in our care.
The Emily MacDonald PAWSitivity Fund
Emily was passionate about animals. To honour her, Emily's family has worked with HSKL to establish the The Emily MacDonald PAWSitivity Fund. This fund will assist in the areas that finances are lacking the most. This could change month to month, which makes this donation option very important to us. This fund will help build a legacy and keep Emily in our thoughts for years to come. Thank you to Emily's family for choosing to partner with us.
Kawartha Lakes Community Cats TNRM Fund
The Kawartha Lakes Community Cats TNRM Fund is designated to assist with the following expenses: trapping, feeding, fostering, vetting, providing shelter for colony cats, assisting feral cat colony caretakers, transporting feral cats to spay/neuter appointments and educating the citizens of the City of Kawartha Lakes about community cats.
