Pet Food Bank
Pets are a part of the family, which is why we have established a Pet Food Bank, here at HSKL. This program is in place to help prevent the abandonment or surrender of animals when their families cannot afford to feed them.
Giving up a family pet because you can’t provide adequate food is a very difficult experience for both the owner and the animal. We are here to help assist in keeping pets with their families.
This service is intended to be for short-term emergencies rather than ongoing. Our Pet Food Bank hours coincide with shelter business hours.
We are able to provide food for dogs and cats. If you have other animals in your care that you need help feeding, please speak with our Animal Care team.
Yes, we take donations of dry and wet food, including treats. If you have an open bag of food that your pet has decided they no longer like or medicated food that they no longer need, we’ll take those bags! Please, no expired product, as we will not be able to use it.
Questions? Visit us in-person, call us at 705-878-4618 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you do not like trimming your pet’s nails, we can do it for you!
Each pet is only $10. To keep costs down, we prefer cash, but we do accept debit and credit.
To make an appointment, call the shelter at 705-878-4618.
Please note: We do not take walk-ins. Cats must be in carriers and dogs must be leashed. We have the right to refuse any pet that shows obvious signs of being overly aggressive or bad-tempered.
Does your pooch need a bath? We know how difficult it can be to wash your dog in a bathtub, that’s why we are offering our tub to you!
For $15, you get the use of our tub and the choice to use the bath products and towels we have here at the shelter, or you can bring your own.
Appointments must be made in advance and can be done so by calling us at 705-878-4618. The last appointment on weekdays is at 3:30pm and weekends is 2:30pm.
Please note: We do not take walk-ins. Dogs must be leashed or in a carrier.
